CVE-2026-50258 Xorg-x11-server: xorg-x11-server-xwayland: xorg-x11-server: stack buffer overflow in xkb key types due to unchecked shift levels

CVE-2026-50258 is a high-severity stack buffer overflow (CVSS 7.8) in the X.Org X Server and XWayland, triggered by unchecked shift levels in xkb key types. Affected versions are x.org x_server prior to version 21.1.23 and x.org xwayland prior to version 24.1.12, including packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0. The vulnerability is resolved by upgrading to x.org x_server version 21.1.23 or x.org xwayland version 24.1.12.
