CVE-2026-47298 Microsoft SharePoint Server Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

CVE-2026-47298 is an important-severity (CVSS 8.0) remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint Server caused by improper authorization, allowing any authenticated low-privileged attacker to execute code over the network. The attack requires user interaction, as a client must connect to a malicious server, enabling the attacker to gain code execution on the client. The security update for this vulnerability is provided in KB5000000 for both SharePoint Server 2016 and SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016.

According to the CVSS metric, privileges required is low (PR:L). What does that mean for this vulnerability? Any authenticated attacker could trigger this vulnerability. It does not require admin or other elevated privileges. I am running SharePoint Server 2016. Do the updates for SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016 also apply to the version I am running? Yes. The same KB number applies to both SharePoint Server 2016 and SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016.
