USN-8622-1: Linux kernel (NVIDIA) vulnerabilities

Ubuntu has patched multiple high-severity vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-64520, CVSS 8.4; CVE-2026-53354, CVSS 8.8) in the Linux kernel for NVIDIA systems, which could allow an attacker to compromise the system. The flaws affect the ARM64 architecture and Arm Firmware Framework for ARMv8-A (FFA). The fixed kernel version for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and 24.04 LTS is 7.0.0-1015.15, but note that this update includes an ABI change requiring recompilation of third-party kernel modules, and a system reboot is mandatory.

An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems: ARM64 architecture; Arm Firmware Framework for ARMv8-A(FFA) Update instructions After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all the necessary changes. Learn more about how to get the fixes. ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well.
