A client-side Denial of Service vulnerability (CVE-2026-42198, CVSS 7.5 HIGH) exists in the PostgreSQL JDBC driver (pgjdbc) where a malicious SCRAM-SHA-256 authentication response can crash the client application. The vulnerability affects versions from 42.2.0 through 42.7.10, and it is fixed in version 42.7.11. Red Hat has issued an Important security update for the postgresql-jdbc package on specific RHEL 8.4 support channels to address this issue.
